"I came to DSG and the DarinFit gym having put on all the weight that I had lost with him the first time—and then some! After moving from MA, I traveled back for a visit and told Darin and Andrea how I had gained my weight, and more: I was at my lowest. After the longest hugs and more than a few tears on my end, they made a life changing suggestion—I could still train over Facetime! 

2x a week,I trained with DSG. I got a mat, a set of 10 and 15 lb dumbbells, and a 20lb kettlebell and a 35 lb kettlebell, and that's all I needed! Darin was available for me 24/7. I texted him what I ate and what I did to exercise every day (at the beginning, it was walking, and now? 2 miles jogging each day!) He helped me make good nutrition choices, and he always encouraged me when I was down. He even sent me extra WODs!

Just before our 2 year anniversary together, I hit my first MAJOR goal—100 lbs down! I went from a size 28 to a size 14! He always tells me he'll bring 49%, and I just have to bring the other 51%, and it makes me feel like I'm not alone. He’s not just the best trainer in the world; he’s the best support system and friend EVER.

"I moved to MA in 2009 after a job loss. I was overweight, depressed and broke. In 2010 my then boyfriend asked me to marry him & I said yes! After marriage comes baby and baby weight, on top of an already overweight body. We bought a house in the next town over, so I had a new commute to my new job in Ashland.  I now drove past a townhouse that had a sign outside with a little saying that changed weekly and a phone number at the bottom. The best decision I ever made was calling that number. I’ve been working out with Darin for almost 4 years; during which I have lost 65 pounds, but more than that, I have gained confidence, muscle and an amazing friend. 

I started out training with Darin 1x a week and now most weeks I train 3x, with my current goals being building muscle and continue losing body fat. My goals change as my body composition changesm and Darin has been a great resource for my mind as well as my physical strength as my coach. Whether I need nutrition advice (I eat a low-carb Paleo(ish) diet) or need a mindset shift by talking about not being a victim of circumstances I have created, to conversations about white fiber muscles and working on muscle strength & growth, Darin has been with me every step of the way. Through my training with Darin, I have come to absolutely love power lifting, with deadlifting being my favorite!! I can DL 245lbs x 3…it blows my mind that not that long ago, I was on a 6 month bedrest, pregnant with my son with muscle atrophy. The gratitude I have for Darin is immeasurable, and it is my intent to continue to train with Darin for many years to come!"

This is a journey that started 5 years ago (June 2013). My best friend wanted me and another guy to hike Mount Washington for his bachelor party. The physical shape I was in made it a miserable trek for me. After that weekend in 2013, I became determined to get into better shape and health.  Darin has become a mentor in my life and always encouraged me to commit to and obtain my goals. In these 5 years, I have lost significant weight, quit smoking, and just this month, I hiked Mount Washington again.

What a difference!  I enjoyed the hike and am looking forward to doing it again next year!
